As the hiring gap in law enforcement widens, agencies must find innovative solutions to maintain the experience and wisdom of their seasoned officers. Artificial intelligence is one solution being explored to transfer this critical knowledge.

Police Commander Jeff Henderson started his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Woodland Police Departmentin Woodland, California. During his time at the Woodland Police Department, heworked many different assignments,which included:patrol, bicycle patrol,D.A.R.E.,andHonor Guard.Hewas a firearms instructor for 13 years and on the SWAT team for 14 years.Hewas afieldtrainingofficerfor 12 years and a schoolresourceofficer forfiveyears. In November 2013,helateralled to the Suisun City Police Department,where hewaspromoted to the rank ofsergeant. During his time at the Suisun City Police Department,heworkedpatrol andwas the departmentrange master and Glock armorer. Additionally, he was the PreliminaryAlcoholScreening devicecoordinator, taught building search tactics, and was thecadetcoordinator.Helateralled andwaspromoted tolieutenant for the Oakdale Police Department in 2019. He served as thesupportservice divisioncommander,managing dispatch, investigations, property and evidence,and animal control.Hereturned to the Suisun City Police Department in May 2021 with a promotion to the position of police commander. Hehas a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration.
