(Released 22 October, 2015) Edgewood, MD – Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI) announces its dual-view HI-SCAN 6040-2is X-ray has become its latest system to be accepted into the “Qualified” section of TSA’s Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL.)
The HI-SCAN 6040-2is is an advanced, dual-view X-ray inspection system which uses multiple views and sophisticated algorithms to indicate items that might be threats. It offers ACSTL “Category A” screening for smaller items, items that will later be in pallets, or break bulk cargo. It can penetrate 35mm steel and provides a flexible, easy-to-use interface, which makes it a top choice for government buildings, hotels and other infrastructures where security checkpoints are required. It has also has been approved for EU Standard 3 Type C (LEDS) use in airport checkpoints across Europe.
Terry Gibson, President of SDI, said: “Inclusion on the ACSTL by TSA is further proof of our next-generation HI-SCAN 6040-2is’s best-in- capabilities. SDI works with all our customers to deliver the latest evolutions in technology to meet their screening requirements and provide speed and accuracy, while remaining cost-effective.”
One of the biggest changes in the 2015 update to the ACSTL was the requirement that new X-ray inspection purchases must be dual-view. Through this achievement, Smiths has been able to demonstrate the ability to remain on the forefront of security solutions and meeting the needs of its air cargo customers.
