WASHINGTON — ICx Technologies (NASDAQ: ICXT), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, announced today the release of its Raider™, a CZT semiconductor-based radionuclide identifier that augments the company’s already robust offerings in radiation detection and identification.
The Raider can detect nuclear material and identify the radionuclide. The Raider immediately recognizes the presence of radioactive materials that might be
smuggled, by humans or otherwise, into buildings, large public gatherings or events, or at any other location with potential risk. It is a handheld instrument that meets or exceeds the performance requirements of ANSI N42-34 (RIID) and ANSI N42-48 (SPRD) standards. The Raider utilizes an array of solid-state CdZnTe detectors and (optional) He3 tubes to provide superior gamma and neutron sensitivities.
The Raider is small enough and light enough to be held and operated with one hand, and can be clipped to the user’s belt in a provided holster. It uses AA batteries, and is both water and drop resistant, making it rugged and ideal for strenuous operating situations.
A build-in GPS unit identifies the global position of the instrument and transmits this and other pertinent event information, including the spectra, identification results, picture and audio description of the incident, via its reach-back capability using Bluetooth© and/or WiFi communication channels.
